Donors Choose LogoAttention: School Teachers

A generous donor has given The Dibble Institute $1,000 to help teachers, who have not been able to afford Dibble materials over the past year, to obtain them at no cost.

We have decided to also use this donation to introduce teachers to a very successful fundraising organization that over the past decade has helped fund 70% of the projects that teachers have submitted to them. It's easy to apply for this money. Simply sign up at DonorsChoose.org describing your students, their needs, and the Dibble materials that will best help your students. Our donor will cover 40% of the cost once you, working through DonorsChoose.org, raise the remaining funds. For orders over $100, the usual 10% shipping is free! For more details contact Aaron Larson, Teacher Success Manager at aaron@dibbleinstitute.org.

University of TexasSexting Increases Sexual Behavior Among Teens

Sexting may be the new "normal" but it definitely is not healthy. A study that explored the relationship between teenage sexting, or sending sexually explicit images to another electronically and future sexual activity found that sexting may precede sexual intercourse in some cases and further cements the idea that sexting is a credible sign of teenage sexual activity.

Bigger Weddings, Fewer Partners, Less ‘Sliding’ Linked to Better Marriages

The more people who attend your wedding to share in the launch of your marriage, the better the chances you will have a happy marriage years down the road. And, counterintuitively, the more relationships you had prior to your marriage, the less likely you are to report a high-quality marriage.

Those are two of the key findings in a new report, “Before ‘I Do’: What Do Premarital Experiences Have To Do With Marital Quality Among Today’s Young Adults?,” from the National Marriage Project at the University of Virginia.

Institute Of American ValuesDon't Give Up on Marriage Now

David Blankenhorn

"Should we give up on marriage? Some very smart people have apparently reached this conclusion. The latest and possibly most prominent is my friend Isabel Sawhill, whose new book is Generation Unbound: Drifting into Sex and Parenthood without Marriage ... I admire Isabel Sawhill deeply, but I respectfully disagree with this recommendation."

Financial AbuseThe Abuse Few Talk About

In support of domestic violence awareness, many campaigns focus on prominent types of abuse (physical, sexual, and emotional) to bring awareness to domestic violence and forget to talk about a common and destructive form of abuse, financial abuse. Not only is financial abuse experienced in approximately 98% of abusive relationships, but victims claim that it is the number one reason they stayed in the relationship or returned to their abuser. (Ed. Note: Money Habitudes, a way to understand your own and a partner’s approach to money, may be a way to prevent such abuse.) News Letter Section Break
