Why does Dibble celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Greetings!

On Valentine’s Day, we at The Dibble Institute celebrate our mission – empowering young people to successfully navigate their intimate relationships. In other words… equipping young people to get smart about their love lives!

We continue to be amazed by the power of this approach!

Results from a randomized control trial (RCT) of Relationship Smarts PLUS with students in Georgia showed that at three years post instruction:

  • Girls in the control group were almost two times more likely to have sex without a condom compared to the girls in the RSP group.

  • Girls in the RSP group were almost two and a half times less likely to be in an unhealthy relationship (defined as their partner keeping them from seeing friends, making them feel stupid, potentially hurting them) than the control group.

Also, a Love Notes RCT in Louisville found that 12 months after completing the program young people from the Love Notes intervention were 46% less likely to become pregnant or cause a pregnancy than the control group.

Most importantly, these great outcomes have only been accomplished thanks to the dedication of so many of you who are committed to helping young people build safe and healthy relationships.

Finally, we conservatively estimate that in Fiscal Year 2022 over 119,000 young people were taught a Dibble program. That’s 500 a day! This number is only reached thanks to our many clients. Much appreciation to you!

Between the impressive research outcomes and the tremendous numbers of students reached, we have so much to celebrate this Valentine’s Day!

With much gratitude,
