The New Year
For the New Year my greatest wish and prayer for you is that you cast aside wrong habits of thinking and doing. Don't drag your bad habits into the New Year. You don't have to carry them with you. Any minute you may have to drop your mortal package, and those habits will vanish. They don't belong to you now. Don't admit them! Leave behind all useless thoughts and past sorrows and bad habits. Start life anew!--Paramahansa Yogananda "Self Realization Magazine" |

10:00 am - 5:00 pm Paramahansa Yogananda All Day Commemoration Meditation
In 1993, our Guru's centenary year, the tradition was established of celebrating his birthday by holding a six- to eight-hour meditation, in addition to the traditional commemoration service.
It is customary to bring pranami (a devotional offering) of a fruit or fruits for this service. The fruit symbolizes the devotee's reverence and devotion for the Guru.
There will be an intermission at 1:30 pm. If one is unable to remain for the entire day, one should attend the first half only.
Doors will be open at 9:30 am for you to come early and get comfortably settled and calm before the service starts. You may wish to bring an extra sweater or shawl. If you didn't have time to do the Energization Exercises at home you may do them in India Hall prior to the service. |
