On Saturday, August 17th at 12:43 am, our dear Giovanna Surratt passed peacefully. Her daughter Gina was privileged to be at her side, present at the moment she was freed into Master's arms.

Giovanna joined Self-Realization Fellowship here in Dallas in 1972. She was a founding member of our Group. She was initiated into Kriya Yoga in early 1974 and was a loyal Kriyaban for 50 years.

Later, after moving to California, she served many years at Lake Shrine where her favorite minster, Brother Turiyananda, was in charge. At Lake Shrine, she worked tirelessly in many duties including chanting training others in playing harmonium, and leading the Energization Exercises.

After returning to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, she became a mentor and example to many members. She was and now truly is an angel! She uplifted us all, with her presence, and her service to Guru and our Group. From hosting meditations in her home in the early days, and being at countless Group Meditations and Socials, we were indeed blessed to meditate and chant with her.

A lunch and social was quickly organized overnight and held Sunday, August 18th at our Chapel while Gina and her husband Mickey were still in town. A good many of our members and long-time friends of hers were present and shared very touching memories of being with, and around, her.

An Ascension Ceremony at the Windmill Chapel is planned for Saturday, September 28th. We hope to have video available to share with everyone at a later date.
