| | DFW Group eNewsletter October 2017 |
| | "If your spiritual progress is at a standstill, or is ebbing, the practice of meditation on God or on any of the Great Ones, in the company of other devotees, will uplift you from your precarious state. The proximity of others' spiritual vibrations has the power of raising your own. Meditating with other devotees thus helps you to quicken your evolution. They inspire you on your climb up the ladder of Self-realization; and you, by your example, can also be helpful to them." Paramahansa Yogananda Self-Realization Magazine Fall 2002 |

| | October 2017 -- Fall DFW Texoma Lake Retreat On October 21st from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm we will hold our bi-annual retreat at Lake Texoma, Texas. The details of the day's activities are still being worked on, however, the times of events will be the same as in the past. We will send updated information with a reminder of this event.
Those who have attended this retreat will attest to the divine upliftment that this day provides. Coming together like this will recharge your spiritual battery with long lasting effects. The location and home of Ms. Lynn Meyer has a divine quality which allows one to put aside all mental burdens for a day, and concentrate on the Guru and his teachings.
We will have the signup sheets in the foyer of our chapel for ride-sharing and food. We do need to have the number of attendees for seating and food. If you can not be at the chapel to sign the sheets please send an email to coordinator@srfdallasfortworth.org so we can add you to the attendance. We would also like to know if you have a preference for gluten free or dairy free food.
More information on the retreat including what to bring, map and directions, can be found on our website here.
Many of our attendees come from locations away from our local Dallas Fort Worth area. In those cases please send your attendance and food preferences to the above email address.

| | October Charity Drive This will be the forth year we have joined with Good Samaritans of Garland, Inc. for our charity outreach. We will begin this annual event on October 8th, 2017.
Our drop off of items will be in the center of the book room as we have done before. Lists of items needed will be on the boxes. The needed items are also listed below.
Good Samaritans of Garland, Inc. has a broad outreach in the greater Garland area and is affiliated with many local, national, and international advocates for the hungry and displaced assistance programs. Please check out their services web page. This is an impressively dedicated, organized and serious group serving the less fortunate.
Items In Need:
The Good Samaritans' greatest need right now focuses on preparation of individual bags to be given to homeless individuals. Food in single servings and hygiene items in small travel sizes are greatly needed to make up enough bags to meet their current demand.
We are asking our members to provide the following items based on a list provided by Good Samaritans. Don’t worry about sorting or separating food and non-food items. We will do that prior to delivery.
The items needed include travel sized: · Razors · Shaving Cream · Small Shampoo · Toothbrush · Washcloth · Q-tips · Bar of soap · Socks ( because cooler weather is coming up )
Food Items: · Canned items that come with a pull-tab opening, and is in a one serving size. · Soups with a pull tab if in a can or easy opening plastic. · Granola bars, energy bars, nuts. · Fruit in a plastic container (they come in a 4 to 6 pack). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *This effort of ours will last the weeks of October, beginning Sunday, October 8th, and ending Sunday, October 29th. We will then deliver all items to Good Samaritans of Garland.
*The collection space will be in a stack of boxes in the center of the book room.
Let's open our hearts and give generously on behalf of the disadvantaged and hungry in our community.
