Sankramanam means Transit. It is related to the transit of the Sun to a different Rasi (zodiac sign). Each Sankramanam is named as per the rasi the transition is made to like Makara, Kumbha, Meena, Mesha, Vrishabha, Karkataka, Simha, Kanya, Tula, Vrischika, Mithuna, and Dhanus rasi. On Sankramanam, abhishekam is performed to Lord Ayyappa with milk, curd, honey, ghee, flowers, etc. This kind of abhishekam gives prosperity, achievement of all desires, eliminates negative forces, getting rid of negative karma, and will give you immense joy and success in life.
