A Positive Outlook for Rotorcraft Sales While the decision to pause the CityAirbus NextGen program is a setback, it follows what was a particularly strong year for Airbus Helicopters. The company saw a 10% increase in orders for rotorcraft in 2024, reaching 455 gross orders compared to 410 the previous year. Additionally, deliveries increased to 361 aircraft, up from 346 in 2023. The company also experienced record sales of light helicopters, with the H125 and H130 models leading the charge.
Strong Demand for Super Puma Helicopters Among the most notable successes was the increased demand for the Super Puma family of heavy helicopters, including the H225 and H215 models. Airbus Helicopters received 58 orders for these aircraft, including 38 destined for Germany’s Bundespolizei air support service. Orders for the H225 also came from countries such as the Netherlands and Japan, highlighting the global appeal of the aircraft.
H160 Sees Modest Interest, but Positive Expectations The H160 twin-engine medium helicopter, Airbus’s newest offering, saw fewer orders in 2024—just four, compared to 26 in 2023. However, the company remains optimistic, citing the helicopter’s excellent performance and availability for a range of missions including search and rescue, law enforcement, and offshore operations.
