“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship him.’” (Matthew 2:1-2 KJV)
What a beautiful picture of those wise men of old, seeking a King by the light of a shining star. Today by the grace of God, we have no need of a spectacular star to lead the way to King Jesus. We have the Light of Jesus Christ himself who said, “I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life," (John 8:12 NIV).
Have you stepped into the Light of King Jesus? His Light shines for you. Hear what the prophet Isaiah said hundreds of years before his birth: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee,” (Isaiah 60:1 KJV). Yes, now is the time to feel the warmth of His Light and Love. King Jesus invites all weary sinners to come —“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 KJV)
This Christmas, allow the Light of Christ to shine into your life, lifting each burden and care. Come, learn of Jesus and you will find a wonderful rest for your soul. Know that the One who was born for you in a lowly stable is the One who has died for your sins and is risen; victorious over sin, death, and the grave — King of kings and Lord of lords.
“Arise, shine!” proclaims the prophet Isaiah, “For your Light is come!”
