Why We Can Be Strong and Courageous
Michael Edwards
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV
As a born-again follower of Christ, just like God promised Joshua, we are assured that God will be with us wherever we go. He is with us now and in every trial and tribulation we face, ready to guide and strengthen us. Therefore, we can be strong and courageous in all circumstances.
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Heb 13:5 ESV
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, John 14:16 ESV
Certainly, Jesus has equipped us to be strong and courageous. It is His constant presence, strength and courage we can rely upon as we step forward in faith, not running from, but moving towards what we fear in victory, just like Joshua did. We no longer need to let the spirit of fear and worry torment us. We can face them head on and watch them flee in terror.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deut 31:6 ESV
God cannot lie. He is faithful to His word even when we are unfaithful. Start paying attention and acknowledging His abiding presence. God is faithfully by your side ready to lead and guide, ready to love and comfort you.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 3:5-6 ESV
