What! You Made A Mistake – Jane H. Young
So, you made another mistake, a wrong judgment; an unintentional departure from truth or accuracy. Maybe you are thinking ‘that’s it — I know God must be done with me, I can’t ask for His help again.' But that’s not what Jesus tells us.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29 NASB
We all make mistakes, and we can’t just act like nothing went wrong. We need to take our mistakes seriously, but we also need to realize God is there to help us turn things around, even when we don’t think He will. He knew when he made us we could not, nor would not be perfect.
If we go around always feeling we’re a disappointment to God because of things we’ve done, the devil wins. That kind of thinking will keep us from spending time with God and receiving those life changing instructions we need from Him. Change comes from our time with God. Only then can we turn our mistakes into victories.
“…forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13b-14 NASB
We’re not supposed to live in fear of failure. Yes, we do all have imperfections—and yes, we all make mistakes, but there’s no mistake you and I can make that will cause God to deviate from His love for us.
Take a few minutes to receive His love and kindness this morning. Accept that God is not holding yesterday against you, and you shouldn’t either. Leave your past mistakes behind and ask Him to give you the strength and courage to start this new day, this first day of the rest of your life!
