We Forgive Also – Tricia Draper

“…and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” (Matthew 6:12 NIV)

Debts can be more than just monetary debts, they can be (as referred to in this verse) a transgression as well. We owe it to God to trust Him. When we go to someone else for help to provide our needs instead of going to God, we put ourselves in a dangerous position. Not trusting in God to help us in every area of our lives can be seen as sin. God told us to seek Him first, and trust in Him with all our hearts.

When we’re humble enough to ask God for forgiveness for our transgressions, even financial ones, we must be willing to forgive those who sin against us. Freely we have received, and freely we should give. Jesus died for our sins, not only so we could be forgiven, but so we would be able to forgive others for their debts against us.

Father, I come to You with a humble heart. I thank You for all You have done to forgive me. You have canceled my debt of sin. Please help me remember what You have done for me when someone else wrongs me. I pray I would have to courage to seek You first and walk in all Your ways. I love You and praise You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
