Recently we were with friends that we had not seen for a while. After some catch-up and chit-chat, Dave inquired, “Did you ever think you would see the condition our country is in right now?”
Pandemic or plandemic, money woes, and limited supplies—so much to worry about! Not only politics, but natural disasters—hurricanes, earthquakes, catastrophic floods—it seems the whole earth is groaning.
The Apostle Paul wrote about such calamities. He commiserated with the Romans, “The whole creation groans in anticipation of being freed from decay.”
What do we do? Are you longing for some steadfastness in your life? The writer of Hebrews extolling the characteristics of Jesus says, “…you remain the same, and your years will never end.” And again near the end of Hebrews, he assures us “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
Accepting Jesus Christ into our lives brings the stability and hope that we long for. Talking with His disciples shortly before His death, Jesus reminded them that they should trust in Him just as they trust in God. He continued by stating, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Someday, He will return to reign, and when He does, there will be peace and order. Looking forward to that time, Psalm 65:13 declares, “The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.” No more groaning—from the earth nor us!
“Thank you, Jesus, for the promise of a perfect place with you.”
