Strong and Courageous – Tricia Draper
Joshua 1:9 ESV, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
God was giving Joshua a pep-talk in this verse. He had already told him two other times to be strong and courageous. Joshua must have been quite scared (as all of us would be) trying to fill the shoes of Moses as they headed into the promised land! God was assuring Joshua He would be with him wherever he went.
God is telling us the same thing today. As believers, we don’t have to be anxious about God not being with us, but sometimes we are. God loves us, He will never leave or forsake us, just as He told Joshua. We need to be strong and courageous and follow God's will in our everyday lives because we know God is with us. He wants us to prosper in every area. This includes growing closer to Him. He may need to do some pruning, which can be painful, but this is important so that we’ll flourish more in Him. God loves us and is always by our side.
Father, I stand before You strong and courageous. I may not always be so confident, but I know You are with me. You said You would never leave me. I trust You Lord. Thank You for always showing me how much You love me, even during growing pains. I don’t want to be stagnant with our relationship. I want to walk closer with You every day. I love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
