Seek and You Shall Find - Jane H. Young
Seek is a word you don’t hear very often these days. It means “to crave, pursue, and go after something with all of your might.” Many people want a greater relationship with God, but they don’t crave and pursue Him and aren’t willing to put away other things in order to have Him in their lives. Seeking the Lord means seeking His presence.
“and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NASB).
If ever our land (nation) needed healing it is now. God said to seek him and turn. Turn from what—our wicked ways. Then He will hear us. We as a nation need to turn from our ways and turn back to God.
What are we doing that’s so important we’ve pushed God aside, made him an after-thought in our lives, and stopped seeking Him? Most of us have more time with all the staying home these days, but we’re so busy with iPads, laptops, or TV to seek God.
God said he’d never leave us or forsake us—it’s us who leave until something goes wrong, then suddenly find time to cry out to Him, ‘Oh God where are you when I need you.’ Really?!! God is loving and always there when we need Him, but just like us he’d love to spend time with His children, simply because we love Him, not only when we need something.
“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart,” (Jeremiah 29:13 NASB).
Prayer: Lord forgive me, I have allowed my own selfish ways to overtake my life. I pray as I seek your presence you will show me clearly your plan for my life and help me to fulfill it.
