Plant Seeds of Courage – Michael Edwards
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. EPH 4:29
We plant seeds of courage by encouraging.
One online dictionary summarizes encourage this way: ‘To encourage means to inspire someone with courage, confidence, spirit, or hope.
And discouragement this way: To deprive of confidence, hope, or spirit.
So, what kind of seeds are you planting in the lives of others? Are you planting seeds of fear, worry and doubt or seeds of courage? What kind of seeds do you wish that others would plant in you, courage, or discouragement?
If we are discouraged, walking in fear, worry and doubt, or any other fleshy symptom, it all began with a seed that was planted in our hearts. It came from somewhere, a friend, family member or the media that may need to be avoided for a time. The Bible is clear that are hearts are the ground in which seed is planted, either good seeds or bad seeds for weeds.
Some say the Bible says to not fear 365 times, it also tells us to build one another up and to encourage each other in the faith, 117 verses in the New Testament use the word encourage or a derivative with regards to the faith. Be encouraged by reading them
HERE. This tells me that God knew we would have a problem with fear. The answer is to plant seeds of courage in ourselves and others. Planting it in others will eventually reap a great harvest for ourselves as those we encourage will be encouraged to do the same.
So, what kind of seeds do you want planted in your heart and mind? What kind of seeds are you going to pre-decide to intentionally plant in the lives of others from this day forward? It really is a no-brainer if you want courage to overcome fear.
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. Luke 6:31 ESV
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. Gal 6:7 ESV
Let us start planting seeds of courage today and reap our own abundant harvest of courage.
