Our Eyes-On-The-Ground God- Cheryl Weber
For by his great power he rules forever. He watches every movement of the nations; let no rebel rise in defiance. Psalms 66:7 N
If combined with humility and love, power can do much good; that is how God uses his might. But lust for power has led to much injustice and inhumanity as well as war and destruction.
Today, Russia is attacking Ukraine, sparing no one. Whatever the reasons behind the invasion, Russia is using its power to steal, kill, and destroy; nations around Ukraine now fear for their own safety and freedom.
As we look at world events, especially in countries like Afghanistan or nations such as China that pose a threat to our own country, we can easily slip into fear and discouragement. Instead, we need to “be still and know that [the Almighty] is God.” Psalms 46:10 NKJV
We use the term, “eyes-on-the-ground,” which means a number of people are interested in and closely monitoring a situation. Psalms 66:7 depicts God as our “eyes-on-the-ground” God. Proverbs 15:3 says, “The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.” Nothing escapes his attention, not one decision of man, not one thought, not one deed or secret of the heart.
Unlike the nations of the world, God’s rule and kingdom will never become corrupt or come to an end. He decides who will rise or fall (Psalms 75:7). All his plans will prevail and he can even use the evil decisions of rulers and other individuals to fulfill his good and righteous purposes. The rebellious and ungodly don’t stand a chance against him and one day everyone everywhere will surrender to him and bow in acknowledgment of his Lordship.
Let us pray for nations like Ukraine and Russia, but let us do so trusting and keeping our eyes on our God who truly reigns over all the nations of the earth.
PRAYER: Almighty God, thank you that you are exalted over all the nations and thank you that even in the darkest of times, you still rule and reign. AMEN.
