Oh, Blessed Weakness - Karen Pourbabaee
“I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NAB
Apostle Paul, in verse 10, adds to weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, stating he is content—OK—with them for the cause of Christ. He further proclaims that when we are weak, we then can become strong. Oh, blessed weakness.
Every weakness we possess is unique to our creation; each has the potential for transformation. In our weakness, we can become strong, if we allow God’s power to do its work in us. Consider these truths:
“The Spirit comes to the aid of our weaknesses.” (Romans 8:26)
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses…So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)
We have the power of the Holy Spirit to aid us, and the intercessions of our high priest, Jesus, in our need. He is waiting at the throne of grace. Offer your fragility to Him. Hurl yourself before His throne. Even as you faint, you will arise in His power. His grace transforms. Oh, blessed weakness.
Forgive me, Lord, for all the times I have fallen short of Your glory. You have created me with unique weaknesses so that You may come near and transform them by Your power. To You I offer all my fragility—all my weaknesses. You do not create perfect humans, for we would have no need of You. My imperfect self needs You, O Lord, to infuse Your grace into my life. Transform me, dear Savior. Use my weaknesses to display Your glory and create holiness within me. Amen.
