We have an advocate when we sin. An advocate is one who intercedes on the behalf of another, one who backs, promotes, and furthers, one who comforts and consoles. It is also one who believes in and is in favor of another.

 
Do you believe that this is who Christ is in your life when you sin? And let’s be honest when we sin. We are sinning far more than we acknowledge. Guilt, criticism, fear, anger, insecurity, fear, doubt, and so on, are sins we’re involved in regularly! We need our Advocate because sin makes life hard, sin hurts us and those we love.

 
We need to see Christ as He truly is. He is not out to get us. He is here to comfort and restore us. He took the punishment for our sin so that we could live free of sin’s penalty. Christ is for us! Not against us!

 
Why do we continue to submerge ourselves under sin’s heavy burden? We continue in this destructive deception when we choose to focus more on self than Christ. When we sin, we need to switch our focus. Sin is the result of focus on self, not Christ. Like the prodigal son, we need to head home into the loving arms of our Advocate and look to Him rather than self. We cannot keep ourselves from sin. Apart from Christ we can do nothing of Spiritual value but with Him we can do all things. See Him as your Advocate today and enjoy the difference it makes!
