Light of the World - C D Swanson
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 (KJV)
The Lord gave Himself freely and came for the purpose of saving us. His blood as an atoning sacrifice, thereby redeeming us. He provided a path for our salvation, and conquered the grave- and defeated death, for us. So why are we overlooking Him at Christmas?
Why are there “Holiday cards” and “Holiday parties” – and why are people saying “Happy Holidays?” Does it seem there’s hardly a mention of Christ? How did this all come about? When did society become so hardened and self-inflicted by their “own glory” and importance, that Christ is not a part of it?
Christ, our redeemer – our Refuge, our Savior, and our King of kings, is being pushed to the side. Christmas is filled with commercialism– look around; it’s proliferating in our nation.
Truly, loving God and His Son Jesus is a joy that should be celebrated throughout the year, and most of all, at Christmas. It’s not something to be bandied about on our own schedule but a daily practice tempered by obedience.
We shouldn’t be reticent about sharing our love for Him. – We shouldn’t care what people might think by overtly showing love for the Lord. The bottom line ultimately is about pleasing and loving God; that’s all that matters.
When our time on earth is over – will we be comfortable meeting God? Will He know us? Or say, “I have never known thee.” That’s our choice.
Personally… I choose the LORD above all!
This Christmas season, please don’t leave Christ out of the equation. Revere Him, Love Him, delve into His Word – and make it all about Him. Because when He came here, He made it all about us!
“Father, thank You for Your presence, Your love, Your ultimate sacrifice, and Your glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen…”
