Light My Candle Dear Lord Lakella L. Davenport
“For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness,” (Psalms 18:28 KJV).
God lit the Apostle Paul’s candle and Paul let his light shine ever so brightly upon whomever he came in contact with. He became one of Christ’s most chief Apostles, spreading the Word of God all over the world. Paul went from persecuting Christians to making Christian disciples among mankind. Many of the letters written to people in the New Testament were written by the Apostle Paul. He let God’s people know that Christ loved them, and that Christ wanted them to give their lives to God and be saved. He offered sinners repentance and the gift of eternal life.
The Apostle Paul not only taught of God’s goodness; he also raised the dead by the power given to him by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Like Christ, he had the power to heal men of their diseases. The Apostle Paul was more than a door-to-door evangelist—he was a brother and friend to Christ. God even changed the Apostle Paul’s name from Saul to Paul. He not only got a name change, but the Spirit of God gave him a life change. God chose the Apostle Paul to bear witness of Him to the Gentiles (Acts 9:15 KJV), (Acts 9 KJV).
Paul’s road to Damascus experience changed him. When he heard the voice of Jesus Christ speaking to him and calling upon him to serve the Lord, he agreed to do just that. He preached Christ – first in Damascus. Since we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God; all born-again Christians have had an eye-opening ‘road to Damascus’ experience. God lit a fire in the Apostle Paul to lead others to Christ. I want God to light a fire in me too, as he lit in the Apostle Paul.
Today, I pray that Christ lights my candle and the candle of other born-again Christians. Lord please ‘enlighten my darkness’, (Psalms 18:28 KJV).
