Light Fascinates Me – HL Ford
I was struck by slanting rays that poured through the openings of this southwest-style vase in the photo above and made it appear to be lit from within. It has no light inside. Merely reflects the rays.
Scripture tells us that light is what Adam was clothed with—light-reflecting the glory of God, until he sinned and lost that covering (Psalm 8:5). In the New Covenant, we have the Light inside us. In these dark days, scripture warns us to keep our lamps full at all times. Psalm 119:130 NASB reads: “The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.” That’s me!
When Jesus said He is the Light of the world, I was astonished to see how literally that is fulfilled in the book of Genesis. I had never realized that supernatural Light appeared BEFORE the sun was created and that plant life on earth began to bud and bloom.
This same supernatural Light appears once again in Revelation 21: 23 when there will be no need for the sun.
I asked the Lord once, how can You be everywhere simultaneously? He answered, Look outdoors at the sunlight. It’s everywhere.
Father God, I ask You to fill me with Your Light that overcomes the darkness around me and make me to be fruitful. Let that Light in me draw others to Your saving grace. I ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
