Let It Go - Jane H. Young
It might pass like a kidney stone but its gonna pass, sooner or later everything does. However, we have the choice to embrace the past and all that comes with it. Not sure why anyone wants to do that, but when they do, it usually comes along with constant complaining.
So and so did this to me 20 years ago, I just can’t be around them. Okay, nothing says you have to be around them, but you do need to forgive them for your own peace of mind and good health. Unforgiveness can affect every part of your life, what you do, how you think, your quality of sleep, how you treat others and yourself.
Get a grip on this problem within yourself. It’s not happening now, so you only have yourself to blame for 20 years of misery. I bet whoever hurt you moved on with their life, hopefully after they apologized. Either way, you made the choice not to forgive them and have lived in bitterness for years. Well, you don’t know what they did to me or said to me. No, I don’t, but God does and his word says to forgive!
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” Colossians 3:12-13 NASB 1995
Don’t let the actions of others continue to hurt you. There is only one way to free yourself and live a happy healthy life. Forgiveness! Forgiving is something you do, not only for the sake of the one you're forgiving, but for your own sake as well. It's not easy, BUT it's important to let the past stay where it belongs (in the past).
Let's pray: Father, give me the strength to forgive the ones who have sinned against me as you have forgiven me. I pray that you will guide me through the difficult process of true forgiveness.
