It Was Over Seventy-Degrees Below Zero
Ken Ebright
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own worries. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34 NCV)
A man in my Bible study recently flew to Arizona. These days, on the back of the seat on airplanes they have a monitor where you can track where you are. The plane was at thirty-nine thousand feet, and the temperature was a negative seventy-seven degrees below zero (though at ground level it was probably eighty-degrees above zero).
That made me ask the question, how does this happen? I realize that with the internet, we can always find an answer. I could also ask a meteorologist or an astronomer. What I discovered was, we have is an atmosphere that protects us, which we cannot see, although it is there. (Yet in reality, I really don’t understand how it works.)
I believe Jesus created the atmosphere. What this says is, the Lord is omnipotent; meaning He has unlimited power. God through the Lord Jesus Christ created this earth through a spoken word. As a human being, I don’t have the ability to speak things into existence, as God can, or understand how it all works.
Because of Satan, we have worries. As Christians, we’re not exempt from these difficulties. The verse I picked talks about not worrying about tomorrow. If you are a believer, you have the God of the Universe on your side. That means when you are hurting you can go to him and pray. He gives us an atmosphere that protects us even though we don’t know how it works, and we can trust Him to take away the worries of tomorrow. The question is...do you trust him?
