Information Is Not the Same As Revelation
H L Ford
Jesus often said, “If you have ears to hear.” What does that mean?
I can read any Bible passage and come away with mere information for my natural ‘ear’. I can read that same passage with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and come away with supernatural revelation to my spiritual ‘ear.’
It is information to read the passage which defines how to receive faith. It comes first by “…hearing AND HEARING by the word of God” (Romans 10:17 KJV). I hear it first for information. And second, I hear it AGAIN by revelation to my spiritual ‘ear.”
Revelation from God’s Word is essential for an overcoming life. Paul learned his theology directly from divine REVELATION: Galatians 1:11-12 KJV “But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which I preached is not after man. For I neither received it from man, neither was I taught it, but by the REVELATION of [from] Jesus Christ.” Paul learned by supernatural revelation the doctrines he preached.
Throughout the New Testament, people received revelation of who Jesus is from the Old Testament scriptures (Luke 24: 35 KJV) and they quoted these verses to persuade others. But they wouldn’t have those revelations without hearing AND HEARING God’s Word.
Father, I believe I receive revelation from Your inspired Word. Holy Spirit, open my understanding and teach me how to walk, not after the un-renewed mind, but according to the Spirit, that I may glorify You in my every thought, word, and deed. Amen.
