He Lives – Rose Hing
Some of us acknowledge the season of Lent which we are now in. The Bible tells us what happened leading to that day at Calvary, and most of us will read the events that occurred that led to the day in our daily devotions.
In the book of Matthew we read, “Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed their knees before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" (Matthew 27:27-29 NKJV).
They mockingly testified as to who He was, with the reed as a symbol of justice. He was referred to as the “King of the Jews” from the beginning of his Life. The reed being known as a symbol of authority and power to the Jews.
In John 14:6 NKJV we read: Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” But those who opposed Jesus hated the truth, for he spoke with authority and exposed their hypocrisy. So, they conspired to kill him.
In Matthew 27:30-31 NKJV we read, “Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.
It must have been hard for His disciples to look at the scenes and see Jesus in these wicked men's hands. They felt helpless and sad, for they had seen him in power, and now in weakness. They couldn't comprehend what was happening before them. They had forgotten that he came to die for the sins of the world, and on the third day, he would rise from the dead.
Then on Easter morning, he rose triumphantly from the dead and now lives forever — setting all who believe on Him free from the penalty of sin! Amen!
Remember - Easter is on April 9th this year. It is good for us during Lent, to consider deeply, to prepare and to be thankful for Jesus’s sacrifice for us. Contact Rose and read more HERE.
