He Came Down – H L Ford
Do you enjoy old gospel hymns? Sometimes they have nuggets of deep truth we may have forgotten. I love that. One old gospel hymn’s lyrics say, “He came down to our level when we couldn’t go up to His.”
This morning as I considered Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, where He appeared in His glory to Peter, James, and John, I was struck by the fact that He left His glory behind and CAME DOWN. Of course, we all know that, but it is something to ponder.
What was the first thing Jesus did when He came down from the mountain? He set a young boy free from demonic oppression. That’s what He’s doing here today. He has ‘come down’ in the Spirit everywhere, and is as available to us simultaneously as the sunlight. He’s come down to set us free, so that we can go up to HIM!!
He prayed, “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” John 17:24 NIV
My Father in Heaven, I thank You that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that He actually WANTS me to be where He is in spite of my many failures, weaknesses, and faults! His mercy endures forever.
