“My peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” (John 14:27)

How do we overcome strife in the home when there is discord in the family? Conflict in the neighbourhoods, violence in the schools, battles in the streets, warfare in the Middle East, and terrorism across the world frighten us into an awareness of might over right. How can we access the PEACE that Christ has bestowed to us? We need to rest in the Lord. “Thou shalt keep him in perfect PEACE, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee. (Isaiah 26:3) 

In the Scriptures He has given us His word. He said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27) Why then do we have troubled hearts and are afraid? It is because we are not obeying His commands. His commands are not burdensome. The angels first came to the shepherds in the field and announced the birth of Jesus, the LAMB of GOD. The heavenly host, praised God, singing “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE among men with whom He is pleased.” (Luke 2:14). 

Remembering Paul’s admonition to the Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be known to God; and the PEACE of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus,” I saved myself much grief. I had intended to fly to Las Vegas from Trinidad, West Indies, when an international plane flying to the U.S. crashed and all the passengers lost their lives. Repeating that verse of Paul’s banished my fear and allowed me to travel in PEACE. Will you accept His PEACE today?
