God Holds Our Loved Ones – by Lori Dixon Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 (ESV) I sat mindlessly surfing the net trying not to worry about both my girls being out so late. They borrowed my car to pick up a few things and ‘pop’ in on a friend. At sixteen and twenty, they had proven to be trustworthy and I didn't want to call them on their electronic leashes, but hours had passed and I was becoming vexed. Some of their friends had recently been in a horrific car accident and seeing pictures of the wreck planted seeds of fear in me. Finally, (why is it always our ‘final’ and not our ‘first’?) I shut the laptop and began to pray. The Lord knew exactly where they were. He holds them in His hand and for Pete’s sake, numbers the hairs on their heads. Between the two of them, that’s a lot of hair! I should know I have vacuumed up wads of it! This doesn't mean that they will never be touched by tragedy, but I have peace knowing that everything is sifted through His caring hands and that God is not taken by surprise. He values and holds them dear, and with that knowledge, I released them to Him . . . and slept. Today’s writer - Speaker/Writer/Servant of Christ Contact
