Why Grace? – by Lynn Gipson
Ephesians 2:8-9--For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
I have done nothing in my life to earn the grace of God. In fact, it still amazes me that today my life is filled with an abundance of grace. I want for nothing, except a continuous thirst for the knowledge of God.
If my life was filled with results of the works I myself have done, I would be dead and very likely thirsting for water in hell. But God has seen something in me worthy of His saving grace, and has given me a gift. He has seen in me the innocence I possessed as a child, and opened my eyes to see His grace all around me.
And boy do I see the grace. Every necessity in life has become mine. I see His grace in my granddaughters eyes when they smile at me. The rain and sunshine is mine only by the grace of God.
I find myself wanting to know more and more about this thing called grace and the God who has given it to me so freely. I crave His words and reasons for grace. Why has He given it to a wretch like me?
Only by the grace of God am I alive today, and only by His grace I am saved. Why? Today’s Christian writer has experienced God’s healing grace with cancer. Lynn lives in Lousiana. Contact
