Never Alone – by John Rackliffe “…he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king's court.” (Daniel 2:49 NIV) King Nebuchadnezzar (a picture of God), amazed by Daniel’s miraculous revelation gave him ( an image of Jesus) high honors and many gifts, and made him ruler over the province of Babylon (the entire world) and chief prefect (high priest) over all the wise men of Babylon (all that fear the Lord). Daniel (Jesus)requested of the king (His Father), and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (all called as Jesus ‘disciples) over the affairs (the Father’s will) of the province of Babylon (the world). But Daniel (Jesus) remained at the king’s court (the right hand of His Father in heaven). (Daniel 2: 48-49 ESV) The Holy Spirit said, “God gave Jesus high honors and many gifts, and made him ruler over the entire world and high priest over all that fear Him. Jesus made a request of the Father and he appointed all those called to be Jesus ‘disciples, to attend to the Father’s will.. But Jesus remained at the right hand of His Father (making intercession for them).” Daniel’s friends were appointed to serve by the One who had sent them to attend to the Father’s business. As the three refuse to bow the knee to a foreign god and are cast into a fiery furnace, we see a disciples’ persecution, for obedience to God and one “like a son of the gods,” (Jesus Christ) in the fire with them as God’s provision for His appointed. (Dan 3: 24-25) The bible assures God’s appointed, “You are not your own,” as a disciple of the Most High rest assured God will not let you endure life’s trials alone."
