God’s Spiritual Promptings – Robert Schaetzle
“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24 ESV
Today, more often than in generations past, we’re witnessing a kind of hostility against us as believers when we share God’s truth with the lost. We dare not resign ourselves, however, from sharing what we know to be true in spite of the contentiousness in the world around us.
My years employed as a U.S. Civil Servant (not military) were years of blessings. I considered the people I worked with (as well as those I served) as ‘my field of harvest.’ Yes, there were those who challenged me. But I learned, more than what I had to say was my reflection of the Lord that was recognized, both by the manner of how I lived and how I served those around me.
Today, for those out in the workforce – whether it’s serving, manufacturing, or research, the challenge is still to recognize your own ‘field of harvest.’ Paul said it so well… “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit,” Romans 8:5 ESV.
As followers of our Lord, He equips each one of us for the task before us. Learning to serve others was recognizing how to deny myself. (Luke 9:23-24 ESV)
Father, thank you for allowing us to become ‘doers’ of your word, allowing us to give others a glimpse of your love, for we have become a ‘new creature’ in Jesus, AMEN.
