God’s Love Story of Reconciliation
Michael Edwards
in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Cor 5:19 ESV
God sent Jesus as humanities open door to total reconciliation with the Father. Jesus’ story is the greatest love story ever told. A story where all wrongdoing is forgiven, grace is shown forever and love wins.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 ESV
Satan is the only one for division, think of his first lie that created division between man and woman, humanity and God. Our heavenly Father is always about reconciliation, leading to great joy in heaven every time a lost sinner is reconciled to God.
Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents Luke 15:7a ESV
God is all about undeserved mercy, forgiveness, grace, unending love and reconciliation in marriages too. Marriage is an intimate picture of the wayward bride, the church’s reconciliation with Christ. Our Father sent Jesus to pay the ultimate price so we can be reconciled. He did not count our sins, but demonstrated His love while were still sinners. This is his love calling us to trust in Jesus for salvation and of His desire for reconciliation in marriages, like we see in the book of Hosea. God is Love.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Cor 13 4-7 ESV
I often hear Christians who want to know what God’s will is for their lives. I can guarantee that modeling reconciliation in our marriages to the world, with a renewed focus on love, mercy, forgiveness and grace, are walking in His will for our lives. A great testimony to the world, renewed marriages in Christ.
Jesus’ heart is always for the reconciliation of family members and friends too. Love as Jesus loves and be reconciled if it is possible, as much as it depends on you.
