God’s Letters Are Not ‘Junk Mail’ Robert Schaetzle
“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” Joshua 1:8 RSVOn many days of the week, we receive in our mail box, whether from the US Postal Service, or by e-mail, advertisements that are called ‘market temptations’ inviting us to purchase something. Whereas God’s letters are ‘Love Letters’ inviting us to know the One who created us and loves us. The world around us attempts to promote products designed to make us think we’ll live longer or look better. Things of this world and its fashions are the result of pleasing ‘self’ over care for the good of one’s soul. Nothing this physical world promises can equal God’s promises for the beauty of the soul. His letters instruct how to find peace and calm within us, regardless of our outward appearance. How can a young person remain pure? Only by living according to Your word. Deep within me I have hidden Your word so that I will never sin against You. Psalm 119:9,11 (VOICE) Even wars and rumors of wars cannot take away the inner power of God’s protection and preeminence in us when we walk according to His purpose and design. As for temptation — no… God doesn’t tempt us! His love letters are not temptation, to lure us to things that take away His purpose for purity of heart and design for joyful living.
