Forgiven Or Sinless – Jane H. Young
Are you living an arrogant life thinking nothing you do is wrong and that there is no sin to repent of—or are you living a repentant life asking God for forgiveness? The first group says everyone has the right to do whatever they please, with no accountability to anyone, the others recognize sin and repent and turn away from it.
“There are six things that the Lord hates, Seven that are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who declares lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers,” Proverbs 6:16-22 NASB
I know these are hard words, but we have become so complacent when it comes to our everyday lives and God’s actual instructions. Ask yourself—am I more focused on living the way of the world, or living the way God desires I live?
I once asked a friend if she really believed there was no right and wrong and if everybody has a right to do whatever they want. She said “ Yes.” Then I asked her two questions: 1.) Where does sin fit in with this kind of thinking, and 2.) If there is no sin, why did Jesus die on the cross? She was actually without words, the questions had shaken her up (or should I say woke her up). She said, “I never thought of it like that.” Soon after that she got saved and baptized.
The problem with people thinking there is no sin is that it leads to the rejection and denying of God. Because if they acknowledge a holy God exists, then they would also have to acknowledge sin exists. Instead, they’d rather deny Him—then they can do whatever they want without guilt. Ever wonder why so many are fighting against the existence of God and the sacrifice Jesus made? Well, there’s your answer!
Prayer: Father, keep my eyes and heart open to your words and your ways. Let me never accept the values of people that reject you or deny the sacrifice of Jesus.
