Trees or Tires? - By Denise Ferrell “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV) With strong roots and plenty of rain and sunshine, a healthy tree will have beautiful leaves and a healthy trunk. It will sway with the wind but not fall – it will stand firm, unmoving. A tire, on the other hand, is made to move. Its purpose is to move an object from one location to another by rolling it along. “Should I wait or take action? Should I stand still or keep moving?” There is no doubt that the only way to know is to seek God’s guidance. Sometimes we need the patience to stand firm like a tree; at other times, we need to step out and do what is required of us. We may need to do both by moving where we need to be, then holding our ground. Faced with decisions each day, we can ask the Lord, and He will reveal to us what He would have us do. He may want us to take a firm stand for what is right, like a mighty oak. At other times, He may ask us to move out in faith and take appropriate action. Seek Him. Ask Him. He will show you if this is your time for standing firm like a tree or rolling forward like a tire, according to His purpose. Denise is a Registered Nurse who resides in Alabama with her husband.
