Don’t Need to Look Further “Where then does wisdom come from? It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing” (Job 28:20-21, NIV). Wisdom is essential for every facet of life. Who then has this wisdom? There must be someone that is all-knowing and understands great matters. The real fact is that wisdom can’t be bought with gold or silver. There is no price that can be paid to purchase wisdom. We cannot exchange it for jewels or items of gold, like people exchange valuable pieces today; “the price of wisdom is above rubies” (Job 28:18 NIV). This may shock you, but there are no humans that have all knowledge. Man’s wisdom collides; it can be biased, corrupted, illogical, or unwise. The Word tells us that God understands wisdom’s ways and He alone knows (Job 28:23). Don’t bother looking any further. God is the author of wisdom and He says, “The fear of the Lord‒that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding” (Job 28:28). “The fear of the Lord” means to have reverent respect and a godly fear of sinning against Him, to give God His rightful place in our lives, and to acknowledge that He is Supreme over everything. Obeying His guidelines, living them out in our lives, and giving Him worship are all part of “the fear of the Lord.” Our top priority is to accept God as our Creator and Lord. He has all the wisdom we need. Florence Simmons is an author, freelance writer and hosts her own Christian site about commonsense and wisdom. Contact
