Remember His Wonders by Karen Pourbabaee “He has made His wonders to be remembered.” Psalm 111:4 NAS Remembering has been an important concept throughout Biblical history. On ten occasions in the Old Testament God remembered His covenant with Israel. Men are exhorted to remember God’s dealings with them, His commandments, the Sabbath, the Last Supper, etc. Is remembering merely recalling information about the past? When our Hebrew ancestors spoke of remembering, they meant something more than recalling the past. They meant that what happened in the past continues to be a present, operative, life-altering reality. Annually on December 13th, I pause and remember one of God’s wonders in my life. God had the final word in my life by His gift of healing. That remembrance is cause for great joy…it’s not a mere recollection of the past. I consciously reflect upon the events of that year, remember all the faith lessons God spoke into my heart, thank Him wholeheartedly, and come to experience once again, His steadfast love, mercy, healing power, and faithfulness. When I quiet my heart and remember His wonder, it becomes present reality for me. There’s power in remembrance! It generates love and adoration. It brings the serene quality of gratefulness into our hearts. Joy quickly follows. And it strengthens our faith. The remembrance of my healing and the gift of new life given becomes a life-altering reality. It gives me new spiritual perspective and impacts my steps into tomorrow. The Lord has decreed that His wonders are meant to be remembered. He knows our present lives have great need of the power to be gained in that simple act. It is good to remember and give thanks to the Lord.
