Enduring Temptation - by Toni Babcock "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him," (James 1:12 KJV) As believers in Jesus, we must be mindful of where our greatest weakness lies in maintaining our walk in the Spirit, or risk falling into various pitfalls and temptations. What is your greatest weakness? For many of us, our weakness is to magnify our sins and shortcomings to the point of diminishing God and His righteousness, and forgetting to acknowledge the Lord and His promises in our lives. No greater pitfall than to return to the boxing ring of condemnation where we will be body slammed and pinned down by the devil every time. When we come to our spiritual senses and return to God's word believing, our faith is restored and we step out of the boxing ring victorious in Jesus. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you," (Matthew 7:6 KJV). Notice how Jesus implies the dogs cannot devour until they are given, and the swine cannot trample until they are thrown the bait, neither do they turn to attack until the deed is done. We are entrusted with the gospel. As Christians we are surrounded by forces that seek to devour, trample and engage us in deadly attack. Defend your most holy faith and testimony for Jesus. Don't depend on the next person to protect you. Recognize your foes and your weaknesses; hold onto God's promise, and find victory in Him.
