Lord Help Me Forgive Them – by Ken Bright “When you are praying, if you are angry with someone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven will also forgive your sins.” Mark 11:25 (NCV).
They lied to me. They told me that I could stay in my apartment without renovation. I found out that never was an option. I have lived in rental housing all of my adult life and I have never had a landlord treat me like this. It is hard for me to forgive them, because all of a sudden my whole world changed. I had forty days to find a new place to live. My prior residence felt like home to me because I lived there for 12 years.
The Bible commands us to forgive those who we are hurt by. That means I need to forgive my former landlord. The Lord takes it seriously because he doesn’t want us to become bitter and hostile people. What helped is a month before I moved out. I would get up early every morning stand across the street and ask the Lord to help me forgive them. I also prayed that the owners would find the Lord. I believe through prayer, God can change my heart. I hope it also changes the hearts of my former landlords. Time has a way of healing our wounds. Because I asked the Lord for help, I hope someday I will be able to let go of what they did to me. When someone hurts you, ask the Lord for help and pray for your enemies. It might just start the healing process.
