The Giving Place - by Karen Pourbabaee “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above…” James 1:17
Imagine that mystical, moonlit night overseen by the star of stars. The smell of straw, animals, spices. Imagine everyone there, though history tells the three kings came later. Now hear the baby cooing, mom and dad’s tender words of love and admiration, anthems of angelic choirs, chatter of shepherds and kings, random animal noises. Experience worship of the newborn king, Jesus, presented with many more gifts than gold, frankincense, and myrrh. God prepared the best for His Son.
Consider Joseph who offered the gifts of protection and responsibility for God’s Son and His mother. Tender love and nurturing of life were the special gifts of Mary. Both were endowed with special gifts of faith, providing a spiritually rich home for their son. Countless other gifts were bestowed by the hands of Jesus’ parents as he grew in wisdom and stature in the sight of God and man.
The shepherds brought with them gifts of humility and praise. Possibly a lamb or two, despite their poverty. Angelic choirs no doubt brought comfort to baby Jesus, the familiar sounds of home. The three kings brought their choicest gifts to lay at His feet.
God has endowed each of us with unique gifts… gifts meant to be given away…used for His kingdom that arrived on Christmas Day. The manger was a place of giving, starting with the gift of eternal life found in Jesus. Gather at the manger within your heart this Christmas season. Open your treasures and give. The kingdom awaits every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift from above.
