Who Are You Known By? By Robert Schaetzle "And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him." (1 Corinthians 8:2-3 NKJV) What a treasure and inheritance when we’re known by God, the Creator of all. The inheritance to be "In Christ Jesus"- - there’s no greater possession that anyone could desire. When I encounter all that comes from intimately knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, I have such a wealth of promise and resource to draw from for daily living. It becomes more evident why I want more of Him and less me or the values of the world. It means that we’re to be transformed by the renewing of our minds; we have to learn to let go of self will, to identify what it is to grow in Christ's likeness. The opening verse, "If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing as yet he ought to know," means to have a mindset of growing and learning, as to be under construction, especially in our thinking toward maturity in the Word. When known by Christ, the presence of His Power, from His Holy Spirit will change us from the inside out. Much time in prayer, especially in listening to His Spirit, will bring the peace and calm through every circumstance of life. His Word proclaims, "No temptation has overtaken us that is not common to man, but God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation, will also provide the way of escape that we may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 RSV).
