Do You Need A Prayer
Partner Today? By Lillian Rhoades
Are you feeling down today with no one to share your
burdens? Does the old Negro spiritual, “Way
down yonder by myself”…In the valley, A-couldn’t hear nobody pray…On my knees, A-couldn’t
hear nobody pray”…express your feelings?
Finding trusted prayer partners who care
without being critical, who listen without giving opinions, who take your
heart’s burden as if it were their own, and who will not violate the definition
of confidential can be difficult.
Romans 8:34 has the answer. It is Christ
who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God,
who also makes intercession for us. (NKJV). Having Christ as our prayer
partner meets all of the above qualifications. But we are flesh and blood and
our need for a human presence to talk to and to feel the reassurance of a hug
or hand clasp is not something to feel guilty about. Jesus will not stop
pleading your problem, or render you faithless just because you long for an
earthly prayer partner.
So why do I say that, “Jesus is the answer”
when what you want is a real person to
pray with …to reach out and touch…to cry with you? I can say it because the
above Scripture is unalterably true. Jesus is making intercession for you, so bring Him everything that
troubles you, including your desire for a prayer partner. When He comes before
the Father, your request will not be overlooked. And when God answers, He will
not only have just the right one for you, but the right ones because Jesus will never stop praying for you.
