Show Forth the Praises – by Lynn Gipson
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;" 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
Why do we, as Christians, at times dwell on what we don’t have? I am guilty of thinking if I just had this, or if only things were different, life would be so much better.
Just now as I sat down to write God spoke to me. Lynn, you have so much to be thankful for. Look at your life now, and consider what it was before I took you out of the darkness! Consider the problems of the homeless, the hungry children, and you will realize you have life, and you have it abundantly.
I do have an abundant life. I have everything I need and more. I have a nice home, people who love me, and I really should want for nothing. God saved my life and he saved my soul, and he sees to it that my life is full of His grace.
Praise God! I really do have it all! If anyone should be so blessed as to have God’s love and grace, they have it all. I just have to remember to praise Him and thank Him for every bite of food, every act of love, and every tender mercy He bestows on me. Praise Him for calling me out of a dark night and into His marvelous light.
Praise you, Holy Father, for the graces you have rained down upon this undeserving soul. Praise you for every beautiful day of both sunshine and stormy weather. Praise you for the love you fill my heart with. Praise you for giving me and abundant life, and forgive me for ever asking for more than I already have. Amen.
