Attitude Adjustment by Keith Henry

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” I Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

“I am only human!” I want to scream every time I hear Christians use this excuse when they give in to temptation and, ultimately, sin. STOP! We are Christians not “humans ;”we have been born again, made into something new (2 Corinthians 5:17), a Christian. We have been cleansed of all sin by the blood of Jesus Christ (I John 1:7). Not just some sin, but all sin: past, present, and future sin (Micah 7:19).

Your attitude as to who you are in Christ needs adjusting if you continue to respond, “I am only human.” Instead, shout, “I am Christian!” from the mountaintops. Does this mean that you will never stumble and fall? Luke 17:1 says “…things that cause people to stumble are bound to come…” As you shout, “I am Christian, ” the devil is also listening, and the temptations come even more vigorously; the devil wants to separate you from God. He begins not with a temptation, but with an Attitude Adjustment of his own; he convinces you that you're only human. Shouting, “I am Christian, ” will change your attitude. Remember that "God is faithful; He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear." Yes, you are going to stumble and fall, but do it with dignity; do it as you shout, “I am Christian.” Bounce up, dust yourself off, and thank God for His faithfulness.
