His Compassion & Love - by C D Swanson
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one for another. Love each other as brethren, be sympathetic, be courteous... (1 Peter 3:8 KJV) The past two years a friend has been going through continuous crises that have tested her faith while zapping her strength and spirit. First, her mother died, then, her husband six months later. Nine months later she survived complicated surgery involving removal of a tumor encased within her spine. She’d just about recuperated when her father fell ill, diagnosed with dementia and landed in a nursing home. The Lord sent many people/helpers to her door during her times of trials, and she has made new friends in the interval. I’ve have been a loyal and caring friend, encouraging, and guiding her back to the word when she sometimes "lost her way" with trust. Compassion, caring, and hearts filled with love, has helped her through each and every time. But, most of all "trust" in God as the only one that’ll provide for all of our needs. He alone is responsible for sending helpers to her door. He alone is responsible for helping her through the circuitous route of heartache. And, He alone is responsible for bringing her out of devastation, each time with a renewed spirit. Although compassion, caring, and love are vitally important while ministering to our brethren, clearly, it is God alone that’ll strengthen and sustain us no matter what we may experience in life.
When we lean on Him for all of our needs, and trust Him, He will assuredly direct all our paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV) C D Swanson has written fourteen books, contributes to various magazines, has a devotional website, an advocate for the elderly, and happily married. Contact
