Food For Thought - by R. Marie Thompson
Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 (NKJ)
We know to be healthy physically, we should eat a balanced diet, with meat, dairy, fruits, and the all important vegetables. To stay healthy spiritually we also need to make healthy choices! We need healthy 'food' for our thoughts. What we spend our time thinking about is reflected in our thoughts, actions, and on our faces!
It came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord. Abel also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering. He did not respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. So the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why has your countenance fallen?" Genesis 4:3-6 If what you spend your time meditating on is not true, noble, just, pure, or of a good report, it will show on your face. Then it will show up in your actions. Not maintaining a healthy diet physically has some potentially serious consequences. So does choosing not to think on whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. Make the right choice to dwell on anything praiseworthy!
Cain chose to dwell on his anger and resentment. Cain killed his brother. Don't end up killing the God stuff in your life by dwelling on the junk. Dwell on all the "God stuff". Meditate on His word. Think on Him! It will be reflected in your life and the fruit you bear!
