On Your Mark, Get Set, Go By Karen White Happy New Year! It is a brand new day, month and year, the time each year when one thinks about resolutions. Some resolve to lose weight, exercise more, break bad habits, get organized…sound familiar? Unfortunately, most people start out well then over the course of a few weeks revert to previous behaviors. Such is the life of humans!
So how does one succeed in mastering their resolutions? The professionals will tell you to set realistic goals, write the goals down, keep them in sight, focus on you achieving the goals, and take one step at a time. All of these things may help you achieve your goals but for the Christian, prayer is also important.
The Lord knows our desires as well as our needs, but He also expects us to come to Him and ask for His assistance. We need to pray, asking and believing that He will help us with our desired goals. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Unfortunately, God is not a fairy Godmother, who waves a magic wand fulfilling all our desires. We also have to do our share. That means we may have to push away from the table, take that walk around the block, and or clean the kitchen sink. Are you ready? Go!
Dear Lord, as I enter into a new year, I ask that you give me the strength I need to accomplish the goals I have resolved to do this year. And I will give You the glory and praise. In Jesus’s name, amen.
