For I am the Lord – by Lynn Gipson For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. --Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)
Fear is something I almost never feel anymore, but a circumstance is coming that has me anxious. I will be flying to Houston in a few weeks to have surgery to remove a stubborn tumor that goes away and keeps coming back. This surgery will remove the tumor entirely, and doctors assure me it WILL NOT come back after this type of special surgery.
I am not afraid of flying, nor am I afraid of the surgery. I have had far more extensive surgery than this before and lived to write about it. However, this is a surgery that few doctors have performed before, and the specialists are with M.D. Anderson Cancer Clinic in Houston, Texas.
None of that scares me. It’s the Houston Airport I am afraid of. How will I ever find my baggage? Where does one go to hail a taxi? It is fear of the unknown that has me in its grips.
Of course, the answer is simple. ASK someone, silly! Yet this is the problem, I don’t trust strangers. Then I read Isaiah 41:13. Do not fear, I will help you, and suddenly my fear is gone. I know God has a hand in all of this. He has provided a way for me to be cancer free, He will provide my safety.
Dear Lord, thank you for being my strength and my courage. Take my right hand, and lead me on.
