God Will Meet My Needs… Won’t He? - by Hope Fulliam
The God that promised to never leave me and to answer my prayers watched as my savings disappeared. He did not send a job or respond when I asked for guidance. The usual bills relentlessly arrived and spawned new ones. Panic threatened. Where was God? Then a memory stirred of two incidents in one day. I was driving, when a metallic hiss reached my ears. In the rear-view mirror, I saw a galvanized sheet shooting through the junction I had just passed. It had flown off a truck and just missed my car. Later, on the way home, I impatiently drove behind a slow-moving minibus. The minibus stopped for a passenger; I tried to pass, but the driver thwarted me. Seconds later, the minibus overtook a small truck, which had stopped because it had dropped a huge bag of empty plastic bottles. I knew the bag had fallen off the truck moments before because the driver had not yet gotten out of the vehicle to retrieve it. If I had passed the bus when I wanted to, the bag would have fallen directly into my path. This incident took place about a hundred yards away from the first one. This memory reminded that God is with me always; that “…your Father knows what you need before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8 NIV). I believe God’s perfect timing and love saved me from harm twice that day, and I believe He will address my needs, financial or otherwise – not just the needs I think I have, but those He is aware of before I am. Why are we so reluctant to trust in God’s infinite love and provision? Today’s writer is a modern-day psalmist whose work reflects her delight in communing with God. Contact
