Be Still - By C D SWANSON Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, after I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son...” (Genesis 18:11-14)
Sarah didn’t fully believe the Lord’s words concerning her giving birth, so she laughed upon hearing His words. There isn’t anything that the Lord cannot accomplish, should it be His will. Read carefully the above scripture from Genesis, and note how important it is never to second guess or doubt the Lord. God’s plans for Sarah and Abraham were beyond anything they dreamed. They had given up all hope of ever producing a “child” together. But…with God all things are possible, so never give up on our God. Sarah went on to have a son Isaac, who had many children, and continued the seed of Abraham…as God had promised him. The seed that would go on from umbilical cord to umbilical cord producing great Kings, and ultimately the King of kings…the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So many of us are tempted to go off on a path or direction that we haven’t prayed about…or one in which we go it “alone” without God’s blessings. We need to pray about it, and meditate on His word.
Listen be still— obey/meditate— God promises that blessings will rain down from heaven so you’ll be rewarded abundantly. Amen
